What are the responsibilities and job description for the Women's Health Registered Nurse position at Outer Cape Health Services, Inc and Careers?
- Perform Women’s Health triage using clinical protocols, assess patient needs, and coordinate same-day care when necessary.
- Perform the role of chaperone for the provider during sensitive examinations (pelvic, anal and breast exams) to protect both patients and provider(s) from misunderstandings or allegations of misconduct.
- Exhibit high level of clinical acumen and decision making to assist in the overall care of patients’ acute and chronic needs as part of a highly functioning clinical team.
- Provide medication education and reinforce treatment plans supporting Women’s Health (contraception, hormone replacement therapy, menopause, pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, etc.).
- Perform medication refills per standing protocols.
- Assist with post-hospital discharge follow-up and care transitions for patients and newborns.
- Collaboration with outside providers, medical facilities and hospitals.
- Provide the best patient experience possible; address patient’s concern and questions, explain procedures, testing, and diagnosis thoroughly.
- Educate patients in the proper use of medical equipment, prescribed regimens and other nursing care regimens.
- Refer patient to outside sources, programs, or support groups, for additional education or referrals.
- Collaborate with provider(s) and care team members to support panel management and ensure timely follow-up on labs, referrals, and preventive services.
- Participate in pre-visit planning with a focus on leveraging standing orders and written protocols to ensure patients are staying up to date on care gap and chronic disease management.
- Review dashboards and care gap reports to outreach to patients and schedule necessary visits.
- Participate in team-based huddles, case conferences, and interdisciplinary care planning.
- Work collaboratively within the care team to ensure a seamless patient experience.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects and help implement population health strategies.
- Support coordination of specialty care, social services, and community-based resources.
- Maintain patient records with accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in accordance with OCHS policies.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards, medication safety, and clinical protocols.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information at all times in accordance with OCHS policies and HIPAA.
- Women’s Health services are offered at all three OCHS clinical sites. The WHRN will travel with the provider to all three sites weekly based upon the providers scheduled appointments and needs. Travel specifics subject to change weekly to reflect patient needs.
- Attend periodic staff meetings.

- BLS/CPR certification required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred, ideally in a women’s health, gynecological or obstetric environment.
- Experience or desire to work in team-based care model.
- Bachelor of Science or Associates in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing by AACN.
- Current and unrestricted Nursing (RN/LPN) license from the Massachusetts State Board of Registration.
- Maintain and enhance professional nursing skills and knowledge by attending continuing education programs.
- Proficiency in gynecological, obstetrical, and women’s health based medical terminology.
- Proficiency and comfort in telephone-based patient triage for women’s health and pregnancy related scenarios.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational abilities, computer experience, and the ability to work within a collaborative team setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – bi-lingual helpful
- Proficiency in computer skills including EPIC, Outlook, Microsoft office, OneDrive etc.
- Excellent judgment and ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.

Salary : $35 - $45
