The Opportunity
We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day field operations, lead our crews, and ensure we deliver best-in-class service to our clients. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building teams, streamlining processes, and taking ownership of results in a fast-moving, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Field Operations:
- Lead, train, and support crew members to ensure high-quality work.
- Conduct daily morning launch and end-of-day crew debriefs.
- Assign job duties and ensure crews understand route priorities.
- Monitor job progress and provide field coaching as needed.
Scheduling & Workflow:
- Prepare daily and weekly schedules based on contracts, weather, and workload.
- Adjust routes and staffing as conditions change.
- Coordinate with Business Manager for job changes, customer needs, and work orders.
- Ensure accurate job documentation, photos, and completion notes.
Equipment & Inventory:
- Oversee maintenance and readiness of trucks, trailers, mowers, and tools.
- Track equipment issues and coordinate repairs.
- Maintain shop organization and inventory of supplies and materials.
- Report equipment needs or replacements to the Business Manager.
Quality Control:
- Perform regular property inspections to ensure work meets company standards.
- Address service issues, reworks, or customer complaints promptly.
- Ensure cleanliness and professionalism on all job sites.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce safety policies and PPE requirements at all times.
- Train crews on proper equipment use and safe work practices.
- Report incidents, injuries, or near-misses immediately.
- Ensure vehicles and trailers are operated safely and legally.
Snow & Winter Operations:
- Manage snow team readiness, including equipment prep and salting materials.
- Lead storm response based on trigger points and contract requirements.
- Assign routes and monitor progress during storms.
- Ensure proper documentation: salt logs, photos, time tracking, and reporting.
Administrative & Leadership Support:
- Assist with staffing needs, interviewing, and onboarding new crew members.
- Help develop field-related SOPs and training materials.
- Support leadership team with operational planning and performance improvements.
- Maintain strong communication with the Business Manager for workflow alignment.
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of leadership experience in landscaping, property maintenance, or a related service industry.
- Strong knowledge of commercial landscaping, horticulture, and snow removal operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage crews, schedules, and budgets effectively.
- Valid driver's license (CDL or pesticide applicator license a plus).
