As a nature-based OT at Outdoor Kids OT, you’ll provide group and individual pediatric OT services in our beautiful San Francisco, California parks and schools. We are hiring a FULL TIME (40 hours per week) occupational therapist to start in May or June 2026. Summer hours will involve running outdoor small-group summer camps, and school-year services involve running outdoor groups and individual services in local parks and schools in San Francisco.
We're looking for a new team member who:
- Has 3-5 years of experience as a licensed pediatric occupational therapist. (Truly exceptional new grads may be considered.)
- Is energetic, positive, and can think on your feet to quickly solve problems.
- Truly enjoys being outdoors in all kinds of weather. You will get muddy, wet, cold, hot, etc. cause that’s how nature works. :)
- Has experience leading small groups of children.
- Loves thinking creatively and would enjoy planning how to blend nature into therapy activities to address children’s goals.
- Can skillfully facilitate children’s development of self-regulation by using a relationship-based approach to behavior.
- Is confident in clearly communicating the value and rationale for your services to parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
- Has strong clinical reasoning, clear verbal communication, and solid documentation skills.
- Has a growth mindset and is willing to be honest and admit when you’re wrong and ask questions, viewing failure as an opportunity for growth.
- Has strong organizational systems to manage documentation, timely communication with families and team members, and progress reporting.
- Has a flexible and positive attitude to work with a team.
- Has the ability to stay calm amidst chaos and in situations where the outcome can’t be controlled.
- Enjoys mentoring fieldwork students and volunteers.
In this position, you’ll be mentored by experts in nature-based pediatric occupational therapy, led by our founder Laura Park Figueroa, who is a published expert in the field of nature-based occupational therapy. Laura created the ConTiGO (Connection & Transformation in the Great Outdoors) Approach, and as an employee at OKOT, you get free certification as a nature-based pediatric OT (a $2,300 value) as part of your onboarding training.
All positions are paid hourly; full-time $109,720-131,040 per year, depending on experience.
