What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consignment Merchandising position at Outdoor Gear Exchange Inc?
The Special Ops: Merchandising position is a retail position that focuses on the merchandising and product lifecycle of the Consignment Department but also supports the general function of the department through customer service and inventory management.
This is a Full or Part Time position and the hourly wage is $17.50/hr
Area of Responsibility:
- Consignment Merchandising: This position is responsible for maintaining excellent merchandising in the Consignment area. They will develop and maintain logical organization, signage, and keep products easily shoppable with the goal of driving consignment sales and creating a quality shopping experience for our customers. They will help coordinate seasonal changeover in the Consignment area and develop strategies to move through slow selling inventory with the goal of reducing our volume of donations.
- Consignment Intake: This position will assist in processing consignment intake and provide key coverage on the days the Special Ops: Inventory team member is not working. By providing more consistent oversight of our intake processes, the Special Ops team will strive to maintain quality standards and messaging with our consignment customers. The Special Ops: Merchandising position will provide feedback and input into intake guidelines and standards based on inventory levels and general observations made while merchandising the section
- Inventory Management: This position will assist with key Inventory Management processes such as daily item imports, monthly donations processing, customer item return requests, and limbo item processing. While these are the primary responsibility of the Special Ops: Inventory, the Special Ops: Merchandising position will be expected to understand these systems and provide coverage for these processes when needed.
- Customer Service: This position will provide outstanding customer service to all Consignment and general OGE customers. Consignment is the heart of OGE and we want to ensure our customers have the best experience possible. This position will assist with addressing phone and email inquiries from our Consigners and ensure our policies and procedures are accurately messaged.
- Retail Sales: As a member of the Retail Sales Operations team, the Consignment Special Ops: Merchandising position will be expected to adhere to all standards listed in the Sales Associate Job Description. This position may be regularly scheduled in other areas of the store depending on overall store and scheduling needs.

- Able to work at least one weekend day
Summary of Expectations
The Consignment Special Ops: Merchandising is an integral part of the Consignment Team. With a focus on merchandising and product sell-through, they will work very closely with the Special Ops: Inventory position to ensure the Consignment Department as a whole functions effectively and efficiently. The main responsibilities will include daily merchandising and organization of the Consignment Department, Consignment intake processing, aiding with key inventory functions, and general functions of a Retail Sales Associate.
