Outdoor Elements is looking for a talented Outdoor Living Design & Sales Specialist who can take a customer’s vision and turn it into a beautiful, functional, and buildable concept.

This is not simply a drafting position. We need someone who combines design ability, technical understanding, problem-solving skills, and strong people skills.

Our projects include custom outdoor kitchens, water features, pergolas, fire features, planters, and other high-end outdoor products. The right candidate will work directly with homeowners, landscape architects, contractors, designers, and our fabrication team to develop concepts that look great and can actually be built.

What You'll Do

You will help take projects from the initial idea through an approved concept that our engineering and fabrication teams can successfully execute.

Responsibilities include:

• Meet with customers, contractors, landscape architects, and designers to understand project goals, site conditions, budget, and aesthetic direction.
• Attend sales meetings and site visits to gather measurements, elevations, photos, and other critical project information.
• Develop clear and professional concept drawings for:
• Outdoor kitchens
• Water features
• Pergolas and shade structures
• Fire features
• Planters
• Other custom outdoor products
• Create drawings that are not only visually appealing but technically realistic and buildable.
• Understand grading, elevations, drainage, water flow, structural considerations, utilities, clearances, and installation requirements.
• Work with our fabrication and production teams to ensure concepts can be manufactured efficiently.
• Help customers make good decisions regarding materials, finishes, dimensions, layouts, functionality, and aesthetics.
• Revise concepts based on customer feedback while protecting the technical integrity of the design.
• Develop enough technical knowledge of Outdoor Elements products and construction methods to confidently explain solutions to customers and contractors.
• Help move projects from initial concept toward proposal, approval, engineering, fabrication, and installation.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has a rare combination of creative design ability and technical thinking.

You should be able to look at a beautiful concept and immediately begin thinking:

How will this actually be built? How will it be installed? Where does the water go? What are the elevations? What materials should we use? How will the customer use it?

We are looking for someone with:

• Strong technical drawing and design skills.
• Experience with SketchUp, CAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
• A good understanding of construction methods and terminology.
• Strong spatial reasoning and ability to understand dimensions, elevations, grading, and site conditions.
• An understanding of fabrication methods or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Confidence meeting directly with homeowners, contractors, designers, and architects.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good judgment and problem-solving ability.
• The ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability, budget, and customer expectations.
• A willingness and ability to quickly become technically knowledgeable about water features, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, metal fabrication, construction, and installation.

You have an excellent eye for proportion, materials, finishes, architecture, and outdoor design—but you also understand that a great concept is worthless if it cannot be successfully fabricated and installed.

You can take the aesthetic qualities that define Outdoor Elements products and apply them to a customer's individual project while creating something that is highly functional and technically sound.

You enjoy working with people. You can walk onto a jobsite, communicate comfortably with a contractor, listen carefully to a homeowner, identify potential problems, and turn those conversations into a clear design solution.

You don't need to know everything about our products on day one. You do need the curiosity, technical aptitude, and initiative to learn quickly.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
