Job Summary
Join our team as a Small Engine Mechanic, where you will be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing a wide variety of small engines and equipment. Your expertise will directly impact customer satisfaction by delivering top-quality repairs and exceptional service.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair small engines, including lawnmowers, generators, trimmers, and other outdoor power equipment using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform comprehensive engine repairs, including diesel engine repair and general mechanical systems troubleshooting
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting techniques to disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment
- Conduct electrical diagnostics to identify faults in wiring, switches, sensors, and electrical components of various machinery
- Maintain detailed service records, including inspection reports, repair logs, and parts used for each job
- Assist customers with technical advice on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance
- Follow safety protocols during all manual handling tasks and heavy lifting procedures to prevent injuries
- General property maintenance when needed
- Unload trucks and have knowledge of forklift operations
- Be willing to travel to various training seminars and service schools
Skills
- Experience or service technician background in small engine or equipment repair
- Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in engine repair, electrical diagnostics, and mechanical systems repair
- Proficiency reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex issues
- Experience with diesel engine repair, handheld small engine repair, and zero turn mower/riding tractor engine repair.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and other mechanical tools
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely during heavy lifting operations
- Excellent customer service skills combined with sales ability to recommend appropriate maintenance or replacement parts
