What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Driver position at Ouray School District R 1?
Ouray School District R-1 is currently hiring Bus Driver for the am/pm bus route. Driving for activities is also needed.
DESCRIPTION
We are looking to add CDL drivers to our staff list! We have needs in both our route and activity driver positions as we enter the fall. AM/PMroute work takes about two hours, starting at 7:00AM for morning and 3:15 for afternoon. Route work days follow the district's approved academic calendar. Activity needs follow athletic schedules for away games and field trip needs when available.
TRAINING OPTION
Drivers interested in getting their CDL are welcome to apply. The district has a payment incentive/reimbursement program to support getting your license and then driving for the district.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a CBI background check.
- Current CDL drivers need to obtain a school bus endorsement.
- Specialized courses or successful self-study in commercial driving necessary to obtain a BP2S commercial driver's license (CDL) permit including required written tests prior to hire.
- Must complete additional courses and driving test within three weeks after hire to obtain a valid BP2S CDL. Completion of First Aid certification as determined by the Colorado Department of Education within 90 days after hire.
- Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District insurance policy.
COMPENSATION
Hourly rates for route driving range from $27.23 to $32.35*.
Hourly rates for activity (includes time at activity) range from $21.98 to $27.10*.
*Dependon experience with CDL and bus driving.
