What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Outreach Associate position at OUR SPOT KC?
The Digital Outreach Associate is a creative, tech-savvy, and community-driven team member responsible for building and sustaining OSKC’s digital presence across platforms. They will lead content creation and community engagement on TikTok, YouTube, and Discord, while collaborating with the broader team to produce meaningful educational media and virtual programming. This role is ideal for someone passionate about media justice, digital organizing, and creative outreach—especially in support of marginalized communities.
- Create and post a minimum of 3 short-form videos per week for OSKC’s social media platforms, including TikTok, Meta, YouTube.
- Ensure all content is aligned with OSKC’s mission, tone, and accessibility standards.
- Track engagement and use analytics to recommend content improvements on a monthly basis.
- Serve as the lead moderator for OSKC’s Discord server, maintaining safety, participation, and relevance.
- Deliverables: Weekly community prompts or events, monthly server report, and quarterly moderation/safety review.
- Manage OSKC’s YouTube channel, organizing and uploading video content including educational videos, livestreams, and recorded events.
- Deliverables: At least one educational video uploaded monthly in addition to other content uploaded; video descriptions and tags properly optimized.
- Lead TikTok strategy and execution, including trends, challenges, and community engagement.
- Deliverables: Maintain 3 posts/week, track engagement and follower growth, and provide monthly insights to the team.
- Collaborate with staff to produce one podcast episode and one educational video per month.
- Handle basic editing, uploading, and publishing across platforms with accessibility features (e.g., captions, transcripts).
- Co-develop content outlines with relevant team members or guest speakers.
- Facilitate OSKC’s weekly game night group “Come Out and Play”, creating an inclusive, welcoming environment.
- Deliverables: Weekly engagement reports, monthly attendance tracking, and feedback collection.
- Assist in developing and facilitating other peer-led groups as needed.
- Represent OSKC at community events, including tabling, presentations, and outreach campaigns.
- Deliverables: Support at least 2 external events/month, distribute promotional materials, and collect contact/follow-up info when appropriate.
- Assist with digital campaigns and partnership collaborations by producing custom content or presentations.
- 1–3 years of experience in digital content creation, media production, or social media strategy (professional or community-based).
- Strong skills in video editing (CapCut, Adobe Rush, Canva, or similar tools).
- Experience with Discord server moderation and community management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to center inclusivity, safety, and accessibility in all media and outreach.
- Comfortable facilitating virtual events and interacting with diverse community members.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends.
- Lived experience and/or cultural competency in working with LGBTQ , BIPOC, disabled, or other marginalized communities is strongly preferred.
