Duties

- Facilitate interactive classroom discussions that encourage student participation, inquiry, and critical analysis of scientific concepts and historical events.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation, project-based assessments, and regular feedback sessions.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies, creating a safe and inclusive environment conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, extracurricular activities such as sports coaching or physical education, and school-wide initiatives to enhance student engagement.
- Provide mentorship and academic advising to students, supporting their social-emotional well-being and fostering leadership skills.
- Engage with parents and guardians through conferences and communication channels to discuss student progress and address individual needs.
- Incorporate literacy education techniques like proofreading, copy editing, creative writing, and AP style to improve students’ writing skills across subjects.
- Utilize a variety of teaching resources including library services, childhood development principles, special education strategies, Montessori methods, or Chicago Manual of Style guidelines as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by the administrator.
Experience
- Preferred classroom experience working with middle school students in a formal educational setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching science topics such as biology, basic chemistry, and physics using engaging instructional methods.
- Strong background in social studies including history, geography, civics, and cultural studies with the ability to connect content to real-world applications.
- Experience developing curriculum that integrates technology for enhanced learning outcomes.
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and assessment tools to monitor student achievement effectively.
- Prior involvement in private Christian school environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for public speaking engagements or classroom presentations that motivate students and foster active participation.
- Skills in mentoring peers or new teachers through classroom management techniques or lesson planning strategies are advantageous.
