What are the responsibilities and job description for the PCBA EOL Test Engineer position at Our Next Energy?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define PCBA test strategies and coverage requirements in collaboration with electrical and firmware engineering teams
- Develop test scripts and automation using Python, LabVIEW, or similar environments interfacing via UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet
- Design and build functional test fixtures including bed-of-nails, boundary scan, and custom interface hardware
- Write and maintain test specifications, test reports, and traceability documentation
- Support bring-up and validation of new PCBA designs; identify and escalate test escapes and yield issues
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers to deploy test systems at supplier sites and support production ramp
- Analyze test data and yield trends to drive continuous improvement in test coverage and manufacturing quality
- Investigate and disposition PCBA failures; coordinate root cause analysis and corrective action with engineering teams
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment including power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, and ATE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field
- 5 years of experience developing and deploying PCBA functional test systems in a production environment
- Proficiency with test automation programming in Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent
- Experience with embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS-485, Ethernet)
- Hands-on experience designing test fixtures and interface hardware for PCBA functional test
- Familiarity with bench lab equipment: DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems
- Experience supporting EOL test deployment at contract manufacturers
- Strong analytical and debugging skills with ability to isolate failures at the board and component level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with high-voltage or battery management system PCBAs
- Background in automotive or defense electronics manufacturing (IATF 16949, AS9100)
- Familiarity with ICT and boundary scan (JTAG) test methodologies
- Experience with MES/traceability systems and test data management platforms
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 workmanship standards and PCBA quality inspection
- Exposure to statistical process control (SPC) and manufacturing yield analysis
