Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Job Description
Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing all daily restaurant operations. This role is responsible for driving service standards, managing team performance, and ensuring operational consistency across both front and back of house. The AGM acts as a leader on the floor, maintaining accountability, culture, and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations:
- Oversee daily service to ensure speed, quality, and hospitality standards are met.
- Act as manager on duty (MOD) as needed, leading shifts from start to finish.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all areas (FOH & BOH).
- Enforce all systems, procedures, and company standards.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and support managers, supervisors, and hourly staff.
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
- Coach and develop staff through consistent feedback and accountability.
- Address performance issues and uphold disciplinary standards.
Guest Experience:
- Ensure every guest receives prompt, professional, and genuine hospitality.
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and effectively.
- Maintain a strong presence in the dining room during service.
Financial Performance:
- Support labor management to hit company targets.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and cost control (food, liquor, supplies).
- Monitor sales trends and help drive revenue through execution and upselling.
Administrative:
- Assist with scheduling and shift coverage.
- Ensure completion of daily, weekly, and monthly checklists and reports.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and alcohol regulations.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of restaurant management experience (full-service preferred).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Knowledge of POS systems and restaurant operations.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
