Position Summary: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church is seeking a parish business manager to drive the daily financial and operational aspects of the parish. This role requires adherence to the accounting and reporting policies of nonprofit organizations.
Location: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church 195 Amicks Ferry Road Chapin, SC Hours: Full-Time
Reports To: Pastor: Fr. Dennis Willey Direct Report: Facilities Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the parish bookkeeper to ensure accuracy of the parish financials – general ledger, balance sheet and income statement
- Procure ministry budgets and prepare the parish fiscal budget for Finance Council approval.
- Attend Finance and Parish Council meetings and provide updates as needed.
- Prepare Vota for Extraordinary Acts as needed.
- Oversee and support Facilities Manager
- Develop contacts with other parishes and the Chancery for needed assistance
- Negotiate vendor contracts and engage vendors for major repair.
- Manage the cemetery which includes the sale of burial plots and niches.
- Vet charitable requests for assistance with individual financial needs.
- Manage facility usage to ensure proper scheduling and insurance requirements for events.
- Oversee building and campus projects and advise the Building/Facilities Committee regarding such projects.
- Track actual spending versus budget. Prepare monthly report highlighting results, deviations from budget, and the reasons.
- Promote financial stewardship in the parish, including providing transparent reporting systems that foster trust in the parish community.
- Serve as liaison between the parish and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston in all financial matters. Attend diocesan meetings as necessary.
- Oversee fundraising programs, stewardship, and expand planned giving opportunities.
Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, various accounting software packages, and other web-based reporting and communication tools.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and process orientation plus outstanding organizational, project/committee management and record keeping skills. Ability to manage multiple critical projects concurrently to successful completion.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work collaboratively across a wide variety of constituents including the Parish leadership team, Ministry leaders, and members of the Parish Finance Council. Attend monthly meetings with Pastor and staff.

Schedule Flexibility: Will require some work during evenings, weekends, and holidays; on-call availability for emergency situations.
