Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish School is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Preschool Director who possesses a strong foundation in early child development, classroom management, and exceptional customer service. This role entails leadership over the preschool department, including planning and assessing curriculum, marketing to new families, and ensuring full compliance with California licensing standards and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
- Operations & Compliance: Ensure the center remains in constant compliance with all Department of Social Services regulations.
- Instructional Leadership: Design and implement a complete teaching plan using diverse activities (songs, stories, media, art, and outdoor activities) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities.
- Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and evaluate qualified staff; provide direct supervision and visual observation of teacher aides.
- Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and the Department; act as the authorized person to acknowledge and correct any deficiency notices.
- Safety: Ensure at least one staff member trained in pediatric CPR and first aid is present at all times.
Required Qualifications (Per CA Title 22 Regulations)
Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience tracks:
- Degree Track: A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development and at least one year of teaching experience in a licensed center.
- AA Track: An Associate of Arts degree in ECE or Child Development and at least two years of teaching experience in a licensed center.
- Units Track: High school graduation/GED, 15 semester units in ECE (including 3 units in administration or staff relations), and at least four years of teaching experience.
- Permit Track: Possession of a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director Permit.
Additional Requirements
- Health & Safety: Must complete 15 hours of health and safety training, including pediatric CPR and first aid.
- Health Screening: Must provide a health screening report and tuberculosis (TB) test results performed within the last year.
- Background Clearance: Must obtain a California criminal record clearance or exemption prior to employment.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
