Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate substance use, mental health status, and overall well-being using standardized tools and clinical judgment.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapies tailored to each client’s needs.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focusing on addiction recovery, mental health management, trauma resolution, and relapse prevention.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute emotional or behavioral episodes, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including medical professionals, social workers, and family members—to coordinate care and optimize treatment outcomes.
- Conduct case management activities such as intake assessments, discharge planning, and follow-up to ensure continuity of care within home, community, or hospital settings.
Skills
- Proven experience in addiction counseling (including addiction medicine) with strong knowledge of behavioral health principles.
- Expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and group therapy facilitation.
- Skilled in motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and promote positive change.
- Familiarity with crisis management protocols for mental health crises including PTSD care and trauma-informed approaches.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical records management.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using tools aligned with DSM-5 criteria; experience with intake procedures is essential.
- Strong case management skills with experience in home & community care environments as well as hospital settings.
- Excellent communication skills for patient care documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient assessment discussions.
