What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Product Owner position at Our Electronics Segment?
Enovation Controls is seeking a Software Product Owner to lead our PowerVision and OpenPV software platforms. You’re a seasoned, relationship-driven PO who turns strategy into shipped capability and ambiguity into ordered backlogs and reliable releases. You accelerate developer throughput by bringing proven practices from prior teams—better rituals, sharper metrics, and evidence-based prioritization. You won’t write production code; you’ll own the directional backlog, translate technical work into business outcomes, and explain in plain language what the software does and why it matters to engineers, sales, customers, and executives—keeping everyone aligned to deliver measurable results.
Key Responsibilities:
Be the subject-matter expert in the “what,” not the “how.” Understand deeply how customers use PowerVision and OpenPV today and how they want to use them tomorrow; translate that into clear product outcomes.
Own the PowerVision/OpenPV roadmap and backlogs: define themes/epics/stories, crisp acceptance criteria, and outcome-oriented release goals.
Explain complex technical topics in plain language to sales, customers, partners, executives, and other non-technical stakeholders—clearly conveying what the software does and why it matters.
Translate strategy into roadmaps for our software platforms, beginning with OpenPV and PowerVision; communicate priorities and trade-offs.
Run discovery to delivery loops: customer interviews, problem framing, validation, and evidence-based prioritization.
Partner daily with Engineering, UX, Technical Services, and Applications to remove blockers and uphold Definition of Ready/Done and release quality.
Continuously improve ways of working (e.g., story mapping, impact mapping, dual-track discovery, better refinement and planning rituals).
Define and operate by product and flow metrics: adoption, activation, time-to-first-configure, release quality/defect rates, and delivery lead/cycle time (optionally include CAC if relevant to your charter).
Represent the product in reviews/demos and key customer conversations; convert feedback into prioritized backlog changes and close the loop post-release.
Requirements:
3 years as a Product Owner (or equivalent product role) in software platforms, with a track record of shipping and iterating.
Proven ability to structure backlogs for outcomes, write high-quality stories, and run effective refinement, planning, and reviews.
Mastery of established PO practices—backlog management (themes/epics/stories/acceptance criteria), refinement, planning, and reviews—and the ability to adapt them to hybrid delivery (Agile/Scrum/Kanban plus stage-gate/serial).
Strong stakeholder management and communication; influences without authority across engineering and business teams.
Comfortable engaging at a technical level (APIs, SDKs, build/release basics, CAN/NMEA workflows); no coding required.
Up to 25% travel for heartbeat check-ins at HQ, key customer interactions, events, and cross-team alignment.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field is advantageous. We also welcome candidates holding a technical degree with demonstrated communication skills, or a humanities degree with a pronounced technical emphasis.
Demonstrated success working in both Agile and stage-gate/serial contexts, including hybrid/scaled environments (e.g., Scrum with phase gates, SAFe/Lean-Agile alongside hardware).
Experience with embedded electronics and HMIs; familiarity with Qt, Crank Storyboard, CODESYS, or comparable embedded/HMI toolchains.
B2B product experience, including partner/integrator ecosystems and developer enablement.
Tooling familiarity: Jira/Azure DevOps/LiquidPlanner/Etc.
Experience operating with hardware–software dependencies, release trains, and change control (e.g., ECOs, stage-gate, PLM); skilled at managing cross-team risks and timelines.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
