Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Director of Social Services, the Security Associate is responsible for greeting guests and visitors, screening them for weapons, assisting them with checking their belongings, serving meals at the to-go window, and maintaining the rules of Our Daily Bread to ensure a safe and positive experience. The Security Associate will be one of five (5) Security Associates who will rotate job responsibilities daily and work together as a team. The Security Associate should be an exemplary representative of Our Daily Bread (ODB) in the public arena, maintain a professional demeanor and establish good relationships with staff, volunteers, donors, and guests.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in crowd management/security/customer service preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work appropriately and cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and guests.
- Familiarity with volunteer-based organizations and experience working with people from a diversity of socio-economic backgrounds.
- 2 years of demonstrated experience in de-escalation and/or equivalent training.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for entirety of shift.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds consistently for entirety of shift.
Position Responsibilities:
- Act as agency greeter to all guests, visitors, and volunteers.
- Assist guests in placing belongings in plastic bins and seeing that they have their appropriate card to reclaim belongings.
- Maintain cleanliness of bins after each use and ensure that all cards are returned to the bins. This includes disposing of all guest belongings that were not claimed upon exit.
- Return belongings to guests when they exit the building.
- Using a metal detector wand provided by the agency, wand each person as they enter the building to ensure that they are not carrying any weapons.
- If a weapon is found, ask person to leave the building immediately.
- Supervise all public spaces with specific focus on the lower dining room, resting area, restrooms, front entrance and interior and exterior perimeter to maintain safety and cleanliness.
- Enforce rules of Our Daily Bread with all guests in a manner that is professional, courteous and consistent to ensure a positive experience, including de-escalation of guests in crisis situations. This may include asking guests who are violating rules to exit the agency and enforcing limitations on banned guests.
- Assist guests who need to see the Director of Social Services with filling out the intake form.
- Assemble to-go bags at the beginning of shift and during downtime during shift.
- Ensure all areas of the front of the building are clean. Includes daily disinfection of totes and sleeping mats, sweeping common areas, and wiping down tables, doors and windows.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team:
- Participate in monthly staff meetings.
- Engage as a full participant in the Our Daily Bread Team.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.

- Hours: 7:30AM – 12:30PM, Monday - Friday
