Extraction Laboratory Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Supervisor reports directly to the Manager, Extraction Lab and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the extraction laboratory to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production. This hands-on leadership role supervises up to ten (10) Extraction Technicians, coordinates production activities, maintains equipment and quality standards, and ensures adherence to company policies, SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements. Work is performed throughout the cannabis cultivation and processing facility with regular exposure to cannabis plants, cannabis oils, terpenes, solvents, hazardous chemicals, and cannabis-related odors, as well as varying temperatures, loud production equipment, and other conditions typical of commercial cannabis extraction and processing operations.

SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm

SALARY:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

·         Operations Management: Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure production schedules, throughput goals, and quality standards are achieved safely and efficiently

·         Team Leadership: Lead, train, mentor, and supervise laboratory staff, including  assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and supporting employee development

·         Workflow Optimization: Monitor operational metrics, identify process bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and productivity

·         Equipment & Technical Oversight: Oversee the operation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment to maximize reliability, performance, and uptime

·         Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to SOPs, quality standards, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), safety protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements while supporting audits, investigations, and corrective actions

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITES

·         Proven leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to effectively train, mentor, and support team members

·         Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities related to laboratory processes, equipment, and production workflows

·         High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, documentation, quality, and safety standards

·         Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt effectively in a fast-paced production environment

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, laboratory data management systems, inventory tracking software, or similar operational tools

·         Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), ISO standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable cannabis regulatory frameworks

·         Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

·         Must be 21 years of age or older

•     Must be able to obtain and maintain a state Registered Agent Card or equivalent state credentials
•     Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent

·         One (1) to two (2) years of leadership experience in a supervisor, lead, or team management role or commensurate experience

•     Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, extraction, research, or related production environment

·         Comfortable working environments with high humidity, strong plant odors, and fluctuating temperatures

·         Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and to follow sanitation and safety standards

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

·         Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex laboratory equipment and processing systems

·         Strong attention to detail and high levels of patience

·         Ability to troubleshoot

·         Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate successfully across departments and roles within both cultivation and operations
