Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development, literacy education, math, and communication skills tailored to students’ individual needs.
- Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the requirements of students with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and other developmental disabilities.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies, behavioral therapy techniques, and positive reinforcement to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, parents, and other educators to support student progress through IEP (Individualized Education Program) planning and instructional modifications.
- Utilize educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and track student progress using standardized testing data and assessment tools.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to assistant teachers or aides, fostering a team-oriented approach to early childhood education.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student development, progress updates, and strategies for continued support at home.
Experience
- Proven classroom experience in elementary or preschool settings with a focus on special education or early childhood education.
- Demonstrated expertise in working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Strong background in curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and behavior management for students with diverse needs.
- Experience implementing IEPs and understanding of special education law and instructional modifications required for students with disabilities.
- Familiarity with behavioral health strategies, behavioral therapy techniques, and communication skills development.
- Skilled in classroom management, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and engaging families through parent-teacher communication.
- Knowledge of educational technology integration to support individualized learning plans effectively.
