Job Summary:

The Marine Port Captain is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of assigned vessels in the Otto Candies, LLC fleet. Acting as the primary liaison between vessel crews, shore-based management, and clients, the Port Captain provides operational guidance, safety oversight, and regulatory compliance support. This role works closely with Operations, HSE, Engineering, and Crewing to ensure vessels are properly maintained, and prepared to meet all operational commitments while upholding the company’s high standards for safety, reliability, and service.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Coordinate with vessel masters, crew, and shore-side personnel to ensure seamless port operations.

· Review and approve port-related operational documentation, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and voyage plans.

· Coordinate with crew, contractors, and port authorities.

· Respond to operational issues or emergencies promptly.

· Monitor vessel schedules, repairs, and provisioning to optimize operational efficiency.

· Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure vessel readiness and safety compliance.

· Manage port operations including docking, loading/unloading, and maintenance.

· Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international maritime regulations, including safety and environmental standards.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requires regular after-hours on-call availability

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability under changing operational conditions.

· Basic proficiency with computers and commonly used software (e.g. Microsoft Office, vessel tracking/navigation tools).

· Excellent prioritization, organizational skills, coordination and attention to detail.

· Ability to manage multiple projects requiring disciplined planning.

Education, Experience, Requirements:

· High school diploma or GED

· Valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in ship operations, port management, or marine logistics

· Experience navigating regulatory compliance (USCG rules, safety management systems, maintenance schedules, etc.).

· Strong knowledge of maritime regulations

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during office duties and vessel inspections.

· Must be able to climb ladders, board vessels, and move safely throughout shipboard environments, including confined spaces and uneven surfaces.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds independently; heavier items may require assistance.

· Must be able to work in outdoor and marine environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and moving equipment.

· Sufficient vision, hearing, and mobility to conduct inspections, communicate effectively with crew, and respond to emergency situations.

· Must be able to travel frequently by car, vessel, or aircraft to support fleet operations.
