Job Summary
Join our vibrant team as the Assistant Director of Otterbein Christian Preschool and Daycare! In this dynamic leadership role, you will support the overall management and daily operations of a nurturing early childhood education environment. Your energetic approach will help foster a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate setting for children from infancy through preschool age. You will collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to ensure high-quality care and education while promoting a positive, faith-based atmosphere that encourages curiosity, growth, and joy. Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development, Social Work or both required/Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily classroom activities across infant, toddler, and preschool programs to ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
- Support classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and social-emotional development among children.
- Provide mentorship, and facilitate ongoing professional development to maintain a motivated and well-trained team.
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, including first aid protocols and emergency procedures.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share updates on children’s progress and address any concerns with transparency and compassion.
- Implement curriculum plans aligned with early childhood development principles and faith-based values to foster holistic growth.
- Assist in recruiting new staff members, conducting interviews, and onboarding new team members effectively.
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, child development milestones, incident reports, and licensing documentation.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in childcare settings such as daycare centers or preschools is essential.
- Demonstrated classroom experience managing young children’s behavior through effective behavior management techniques.
- Knowledge of childhood development stages from infancy through preschool age is highly desirable.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a strong plus.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in special education or early childhood education are advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead a team of educators while fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Background in caregiving roles such as nannying or babysitting that involved supervising children’s activities can be relevant.
