What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Otter Valley Union High School?
Otter Valley Unified Union is accepting applications for a full time, year round custodian to begin immediately. Starting rate of pay is $20.23/hr, with opportunity for increase based on past experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Routine manual work involving custodial and housekeeping care of school buildings and grounds;
Maintains janitorial and housekeeping supplies and ensures re-ordering through supervisor when needed;
Maintains custodial storage areas in a clean and orderly fashion;
Notifies and assists supervisor when repairs are needed. ;
May perform grounds keeping, snow and ice removal and recycling;
Monitors cafeteria & gymnasium cleanliness, with mopping, and sweeping as necessary;
Secures building according to plan devised with building administrator;
Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting drinking fountains;
Responsible for buffing, dust mopping, wet mopping, and vacuuming of floors;
Responsible for dusting window sills, shelves, counters and board rails as specified at the local level;
Removal of graffiti as needed;
Annually assists in stripping & waxing of floors, and steam cleaning carpets;
Per work request, sets up and breaks down for meetings, dances, activities and athletic events, etc;
Work areas and/or tasks will be assigned by the Head custodian in a manner which best serves the needs of the school;
Other duties may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or Head Custodian as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred, with demonstrated custodial experience
