Power Plant Operator
We have an opening for a full-time Power Plant Operator at the Big Stone Plant; a 475 MW coal fired generating station, located near Milbank, SD.
Specialized education and training, or documented experience in the operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam boilers and power processes is required. Applicants must have a strong mechanical aptitude, thorough understanding of power generation and steam plant operations.
Must be able to work in all weather, confined spaces and at height; be able to lift 50 pounds and wear a respirator; and hold a valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants with an associate degree in power plant or process technology.
Successful applicant will assist dayshift Fourth Operator with Air Quality Control System (AQCS) equipment monitoring, operating, and servicing. When not conducting these jobs, the Fifth Operator will train for Fourth Operator duties. Operate, monitor and service plant auxiliary equipment, including scrubber ash and lime handling, and reclaim, ammonia, activated carbon and other auxiliary systems related to AQCS. Assist in other areas as directed by the Chief Operator.
