Ottawa County, a rural county on the scenic shores of Lake Erie, is seeking applicants for an Eligibility/Referral Specialist 2 position in our Income Maintenance division. In this role, you’ll help individuals and families access essential public assistance programs, supporting food security, healthcare access, and the path toward self‑sufficiency.
Key responsibilities include interviewing applicants, collecting documentation for programs like SNAP, Ohio Works First, and Medicaid, maintaining accurate case records, determining ongoing eligibility, answering client questions, and connecting people to agency and community resources.
We’re looking for professional, detail‑oriented candidates who value confidentiality and want to make a meaningful impact in our community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year experience determining eligibility for social service programs; OR completion of undergraduate major core course work in behavioral science, social science or education, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding, or word processing; OR education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
PAY RANGE: $19.07 per hour entry wage, with planned increases over the course of two years.
