SUMMARY:
Provides technical support, configuration, installation, and repair of computer workstations, servers, software, and infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Participates in activities related to network administration, server maintenance, computer support, mobile data support and installation, and GIS database support.
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and supports the hardware and software associated with the organizations computers and network infrastructure including software applications, voice radio and data systems, networked computers, cabling, modems, printers, and associated peripherals.
Participates in the administration and maintenance of voice radio systems and related equipment and hardware. Integrates systems and compatibility of software and hardware in a mobile environment.
Performs routine repair, preventative maintenance, and licensing of PC's, voice radio and data systems, networks, and associated peripherals. Assists in supporting mobile data computers with software and hardware.
Performs technical support in response to trouble calls from internal and external users.
Collaborates with vendors to determine solutions on complex technology issues.
Assists in administration and maintenance of the wide area network, local area network, wireless network, and private mobile network for police and fire departments.
Assists in the maintenance of GIS/AVL applications. Participates in the editing, cleaning, and building of GIS layers and other GIS/AVL functionality.
Develops, implements, and conducts training programs on the use of computers, mobile data devices, radios, and related software and hardware.
Understand the Dispatch Supervisor, Communications Specialist 1 and Communications Specialist 2 roles.
Conducts research and makes recommendations for software and hardware improvements; assists with installation, upgrades, and special projects as needed.
Responds to emergency technical issues.
Maintains currency of new administrative techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth; attends conferences, workshops and seminars; maintains currency with trends and developments in the field of Information Technology hardware and software.
Maintains and controls user access to all mobile applications and has an awareness of all software being used on devices owned by OCCDA.
Completes all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED; AND two (2) years of experience providing hardware and software problem resolution and technical support; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
Driver's License
LEIN Certification
VPN Certification within six (6) months of date of hire
Security Plus Certification within one (1) year of date of hire
Required Knowledge and Skills
Required Knowledge:
Local area network hardware and software capabilities and installation techniques.
Principles, practices and techniques in the maintenance of computer hardware and software.
Laws, ordinances, practices, and other regulations pertaining to emergency services, 911 public safety dispatching, and related tasks.
Operation of computer-aided dispatch systems, mobile radio communication technology, and other related equipment and systems.
Use of technology management tools and problem analysis techniques.
Principles and practices of installing, configuring and maintaining Windows server operating systems.
Record keeping procedures and requirements.
Techniques for working with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an office setting. Travel is required to branches and office locations throughout the Agency's geographic area.
