Description:
1:1 Behavior Assistant (BA) needed to work with a high school/post-secondary aged student with challenging behavioral needs in a center based special education school. The successful candidate will be assigned to a classroom to support the student's needs in the areas of behavior, academics, functional life skills, and transition. The Behavior Assistant will provide targeted behavioral support to the student in the classroom setting in compliance with their individualized education plan (IEP) and positive behavior support plan. Support may also be provided in community settings, including other transition programs within the OAISD.
The BA will receive specialized training to provide behavioral interventions through training videos and some direct training from the Behavior Consultant (BC). The Behavior Assistant will engage in all classroom duties as assigned by the classroom teacher. This includes personal care, behavioral support and instructional support for the assigned student.
Minimum one year commitment to the district required.
Other duties as assigned by administration may be required.
Qualifications:
The qualified individual must have experience working with students with moderate to severe cognitive impairments and behaviors.
Moderate to heavy lifting required (up to 75 pounds) with or without mechanical assistance.
High school diploma required.
Coursework in special education, child development, and/or applied behavior analysis is preferred.
CPR/First Aid Training required or will be provided.
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training required or will be provided.
RBT Certification is NOT required.
Calendar: Balanced, school-year length calendar - 190 days per year
Schedule: Hourly - 7.5 hours per day
Compensation: $21.14-$24.16 commensurate with experience.
