he Itinerant Pupil Services Coordinator supports district operations by providing professional assistance, supervision, and leadership in the coordination of pupil personnel services across multiple school districts. Through collaborative problem-solving, data-informed decision-making, and a student-centered approach, the Coordinator strengthens district systems related to attendance, social-emotional supports, crisis response, and student wellness. The Coordinator enhances staff capacity, ensures compliance with NYS regulations, and promotes equitable, culturally responsive services for all students. This itinerant role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and the ability to guide and support diverse school communities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional assistance, supervision, and leadership to district staff involved in pupil personnel services, ensuring consistent, high-quality implementation of supports.

  • Coordinate pupil services across assigned districts, including counseling, social work, attendance support, crisis intervention, and related student programs.

  • Assist districts in developing, implementing, and evaluating systems of support aligned with NYSED regulations, district goals, and student needs.

  • Participate in student support teams, MTSS/RTI processes, and problem-solving meetings to identify student needs and recommend appropriate interventions.

  • Support districts in addressing chronic absenteeism by analyzing attendance data, developing improvement plans, and coordinating interventions with families and community agencies.

  • Provide consultation and leadership to administrators, teachers, and support staff regarding student mental health, behavioral concerns, social-emotional needs, and available services.

  • Facilitate referrals to community agencies and coordinate interagency communication to ensure continuity of care and wraparound supports.

  • Assist in crisis response and post-crisis planning, ensuring alignment with district protocols and best practices in student safety and wellness.

  • Provide training, coaching, supervision, and professional development to school staff on topics such as trauma-informed practices, attendance improvement, student engagement, and social-emotional supports.

  • Monitor service delivery across districts to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and NYSED regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports required by BOCES, NYSED, and district partners.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including school psychologists, counselors, social workers, and administrators, to promote coordinated, student-centered service delivery.

  • Support the development, implementation, and refinement of MTSS frameworks, including progress monitoring, data analysis, and staff coaching.

  • Communicate regularly with district leadership to review service effectiveness, emerging needs, and recommended adjustments.

  • Engage families through communication, resources, and guidance to strengthen home-school collaboration and support student success.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, emotional maturity, and cultural responsiveness in all interactions.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in pupil services, student wellness, and NYSED regulations.

Salary: $90,000 - $105,000; 12-month position

NYS retirement, EAP, continuing education assistance, and exceptional insurance, including retiree health insurance, are available.


Job Qualifications


The Itinerant Pupil Services Coordinator will possess the following minimum qualities, qualifications, skills, and/or abilities:

  • Valid New York State certification

  • Experience providing student support services in educational settings, including work with diverse student populations and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, coach, and support staff delivering pupil services.

  • Strong knowledge of NYSED regulations related to pupil personnel services, attendance, special education, and student wellness.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify student needs, and develop targeted interventions.

  • Experience collaborating with educators, administrators, families, and community agencies to support student success.

  • Skilled in interviewing, assessment, case management, and crisis response, with the ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations.

  • Ability to provide training and coaching to staff on student support strategies, social-emotional learning, and evidence-based practices.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across districts.

  • Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to equitable, student-centered practices.

  • Evidence of initiative, dependability, emotional maturity, and the ability to perform the essential functions of the position while applying culturally responsive practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive, solution-focused team member; actively engaged, approachable, and respectful in all interactions; committed to collaborative problem-solving, critical thinking, and responding with empathy while maintaining integrity, honesty, and professionalism.

Salary : $90,000 - $105,000
