Senior Linux Engineer
Location : Quincy, MA - Onsite
We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Engineer to support and maintain enterprise Linux infrastructure with a strong focus on security patching, configuration management, automation, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, Puppet, and Shell Scripting, along with strong troubleshooting and system administration skills.

Key Responsibilities
Linux Administration
Administer, maintain, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in production, development, and DR environments.
Monitor system health, performance, and availability.
Perform capacity planning and system optimization.
Troubleshoot OS, hardware, and application-related issues.
Security & Patch Management
Plan and execute Linux security patching activities across enterprise environments.
Ensure compliance with security standards and vulnerability remediation requirements.
Work with security teams to address audit findings and critical vulnerabilities.
Create patch deployment reports and compliance dashboards.
Automation & Configuration Management
Develop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible and Puppet.
Automate server provisioning, patching, configuration management, and operational tasks.
Create reusable playbooks, manifests, and automation workflows.
Improve operational efficiency through scripting and automation initiatives.
Scripting & Tool Development
Develop and maintain Bash/Shell scripts for system administration and automation.
Build tools for monitoring, reporting, and maintenance activities.
Support scheduled jobs and automated operational processes.
Red Hat Satellite Administration
Manage and maintain Red Hat Satellite infrastructure.
Configure lifecycle environments, content views, activation keys, and host groups.
Manage patch distribution and package repositories.
Troubleshoot Satellite-related issues and optimize patch deployment processes.
Incident & Problem Management
Support critical incidents and participate in root cause analysis activities.
Develop permanent fixes for recurring issues.
Participate in on-call rotations and maintenance activities when required.
Documentation & Collaboration
Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
Collaborate with storage, network, security, cloud, and application teams.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
7 years of Linux system administration experience.
Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Hands-on experience with Red Hat Satellite.
Strong knowledge of Ansible and Puppet.
Advanced Shell Scripting (Bash/Korn Shell) skills.
Experience with Linux patch management and security compliance.
Strong troubleshooting skills for OS, networking, and performance issues.
Knowledge of system monitoring tools and log analysis.
Preferred Skills
Experience with VMware, AWS, or Azure environments.
Knowledge of Git, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
Experience with CyberArk or enterprise privileged access solutions.
Exposure to containers (Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes).
ITIL Incident, Change, and Problem Management experience.
Soft Skills
