Job Title: Research Aide and Interviewer Department: Medicine | Otolaryngology The Research Technician provides entry‑level technical support for scientific investigations related to their chosen primary mentor from a list of approved NIH funded faculty within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Working under clearly established guidelines and with close guidance from the supervisor and experienced team members, the individual performs routine laboratory procedures such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, basic assays, and cell culture, and assists with processing tissue and blood samples. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate laboratory records, preparing materials and equipment for experiments, monitoring supplies, and supporting day‑to‑day lab operations. The individual collects and organizes data, solves straightforward technical problems, and contributes to research activities by following structured work assignments. Interaction is primarily with the immediate supervisor and lab team, with limited independent discretion. Additional support may include assisting with animal procedures, basic literature searches, and helping orient new students or staff to simple lab tasks Minimum Education & Experience Required High School graduate or associate degree required. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
