- High School/GED
One to two years' experience in general trades maintenance associated with facilities or related field.
License/Certifications
Must have a valid Oklahoma driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Thorough understanding of interior building construction.
- High degree of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic knowledge and ability to perform general maintenance repairs associated to construction, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
- Knowledgeable with voltage meters, airflow, pressure and other common capacity testing devices.
- Ability to follow safe work practices, procedures and policies.
- Responsible for documentation of all work performed including maintenance operation reports, service requests and replacement needs.
- Works with minimal supervision and independently to perform duties of the department.
- Ability to be versatile and flexible in accomplishing multiple daily maintenance tasks while standing on ladders, lifts, and other raised or elevated surfaces, etc.
- Must be dependable, responsible and prompt.
- Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
- High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively convey messages through 2-way radio, text or email.

- More than two years' experience in general trades maintenance associated with facilities or related field.
- Ability to assist, execute and exceed expectations associated with carpentry related repairs and/or installations, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
- Efficiently and safely operate power equipment.
- Assist in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; including preventative maintenance, construction and renovation projects.
- Perform HVAC preventive maintenance, especially filter replacements, scheduling and ordering for the campus.
- Assist in construction and facilities related maintenance, installation and projects.
- Assist in performing in the diagnosis and repair all light fixtures on campus.
- Responsible for documentation of all daily work performed including but not limited to maintenance operation reports, work order requests and replacement parts.
- Assist with moving heavy equipment including office furniture / tables.
- Assist with other assignments within the department.
- Keep University tools, equipment and work areas clean, maintained and in good working condition.
- Follows safe work practices and policies.
- Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development days each year.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor working environment. May be occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to work nights and weekends when required.
- Dust and small debris falling from ceiling tiles while being removed.
- Work with chemicals; such as cleaners, solvents and grease.
- Must present a clean and professional uniform appearance while maintaining normal and acceptable standards of personal hygiene.
- Protective mask and other impervious Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required on all construction jobs as posted and as the situation dictates.
- Extensive reaching, crawling / kneeling, standing / walking, bending / stooping, squatting / crouching, pushing / pulling and climbing. Repetitive movement of hand / wrist.
- Ability and flexibility to tilt head backwards for extended periods of time.
- Work on ladders with extensive use of arms overhead.
- Requires ability and adequate dexterity to carry ladders, operate power tools and equipment required for the job.
- Manual dexterity / visual ability to operate motor vehicles, scissor lifts and other motorized equipment.
- Physical and mental stamina to climb roof ladder accesses, working on top of buildings and on extended power lift platforms to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to lift/carry 45 pounds. If an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift.
