What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Equipment Technician position at Osterhaus Pharmacy?
Responsibilities
- Obtains and interprets medical documentation, compares documentation with insurance coverage criteria, and creates orders to provide medical equipment and supplies.
- Verifies patient insurance eligibility/benefits and communicates financial responsibilities to patients, caregivers, and other health care providers.
- Appropriately measures and correctly sizes equipment options
- Reviews, obtains, and logs appropriate medical documentation that supports the reimbursement of equipment/supplies.
- Performs accurate data entry into operating system (NikoHealth and PioneerRx) and processes orders for appropriate equipment/supplies to ensure delivery and correct billing.
- Communicates with patients, employees, payers, caregivers, and other health care providers on status of orders.
- Collects payments from patients for coinsurance, copays, and self-pay items.
- Obtains written orders and prior authorization for appropriate equipment/supplies.
- Ensures compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and Accreditation Standards.
- Operate the cash register to ring up patient's items in collaboration with the team
- Performs other duties as assigned.
We are looking for a new member of our team to expand our durable medical options. Previous exposure to healthcare preferred but not required as on the job training will be provided. We are looking for a candidate who is dedicated to providing excellent customer service as well as having strong computer skills. Activities include working with patients to meet their needs, measuring patient's for medical equipment, maintaining accurate paperwork, submitting electronic claims for durable medical equipment (CPAP supplies, diabetic shoes, nebulizers, etc.) and reconciling payment information. You will work with coworkers as a team to assist patients at the checkout counter and help the team organize inventory of supplies. Osterhaus Pharmacy prides itself in providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all patient interactions in the store and via the phone.
Our pharmacy is open 8am to 6pm Monday - Friday, 8am to 1pm on Saturday, and closed on Sunday. You will share Saturday responsibilities working approximately 1 weekend per month.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
