ESP - Instructional/ Clerical

General Purpose of Job: Assist the classroom teacher with instructional tasks, working directly and indirectly with students. These tasks will constitute the major portion (4.5 hours/day) of the Educational Support Professional time. Includes lunch and recess supervision as well as Stop Sign Duty at dismissal.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in general classroom operational procedures such as setting up and operating audiovisual equipment, setting up physical education equipment, preparing and setting up art supplies.
  • Work directly with students individually or in small groups on academic and motor or social skills, e.g., math, science, English, color recognition, decision making, self-esteem building, etc.
  • Assist students and teachers in large group activities/projects such as art, physical education, dramatics.
  • Seek out special instructional materials to assist with students having particular learning problems, e.g., separate math skill worksheet, not a part of teacher's curriculum.
  • Type worksheets, tests, or various instructional material; duplicate and assemble.
  • Correct tests via computer. Record results in grade books.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by principal or designee.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Applicants must be Highly Qualified - Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:
    • Two years of study at an institution of higher education; Minnesota's standard; A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR
    • An Associate's (or higher) degree; Minnesota's standard: An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree OR
    • Received a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
      • District will pay for the exam.
Salary: View Classification 1 and 2 salary grid on page 4; and classification descriptions on page 5-6 on Educational Support Professional contract

Work schedule: 5.5 hours/day (5.25 hours instructional; 0.25 hours clerical);
