This role requires routine interaction and coordination with field operations personnel (foremen, supervisors, managers), project managers, utilities, locating contractors, and government agencies.

This role requires routine interaction and coordination with field operations personnel (foremen, supervisors, managers), project managers, utilities, locating contractors, and government agencies.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with field personnel in the timely submittal of underground utility locate requests to maintain continuity of operations.
- Submit locate requests to state One Call (“811”) centers through web sites or by phone (position will require registration to submit tickets for multiple states). All submittals must conform to applicable state regulations and requirements.
- Monitor status of locate requests and tickets, with respect to operational deadlines, and provide internal customers (Operations, Project Management, Engineering, etc.) with needed updates.
- Respond to questions and requests for additional information made by state agencies, utilities, locating contractors, etc.
- Update system used to track locate requests with current information (progress, completion date, etc.)
- Maintain documentation (records) related to locate requests (ticket information, maps, supporting information, positive responses, records of communication, etc.)
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable state regulations and requirements (ticket entry requirements, lead time, expiration and renewal dates, etc.)
- Additional administrative tasks and work assignments, as requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Customer service skills and experience.
- Ability to read and create maps (using Microsoft Streets & Trips, Google Maps/Earth, or other software applications).
- Ability to translate maps and data into accurate, clear, and concise verbal and written location and direction information using compass directions, distances and units of measure, roads, landmarks, terrain, etc.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple work assignments and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize software, web-based, and enterprise applications.
