All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time. This temporary position is located in Rocky Mount - Edgecombe County. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application) This temporary position will be assigned to the NC Department of Public Safety, Juvenile Justice Division. The Educational Development Assistant /Substitute Teacher / Teacher Asst role will spend time covering classes and or assisting teachers in specific subject areas, preparing instructional materials, coordinating classroom activities and following lesson plans. Responsibilities may include assisting with lesson plans, providing classroom instruction, facilitating on-line classes and HiSET coursework, recording behavior and academic progress notes. This position will work collaboratively with subject matter teachers to provide instructional services to students. Candidate will provide student feedback through progress notes. Work hours are 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. Management prefers applicants with the following: Basic knowledge of MS Word, PPT, Excel and Outlook. Ability to manage small group activities. Ability to work with diverse youth population. Ability to establish rapport with students in the program and their families. Ability to follow/implement teacher lesson plans. Ability to provide an environment favorable to learning.
