What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer - 3rd Shift position at Oshkosh Delivery?
The Quality Engineer will work with team members and managers while exhibiting a professional and cooperative attitude. The primary mission of the Quality Engineer is to continuously improve safety, quality, business, and manufacturing processes with an emphasis on eliminating process waste. The use of structured quality improvement tools is required. The Quality Engineer will design new processes and re-engineer existing processes to produce outcomes that meet safety, quality, and business expectations. Process flow diagrams and cycle-time analysis will be required for process improvement projects to substantiate ROIC. Examples of process improvement projects include inventory accuracy, production throughput, and plant flow.
Plant 3rd shift hours: 8:30 pm - 5:00 am EST. Please note: These reflect general core hours, start and end times will vary based on overtime needs.
YOUR IMPACT
- Support housekeeping and safety
- Facilitate and train team members in process improvement techniques
- Assist in the identification and implementation of six-sigma projects
- Lead teams in applying the six sigma DMAIC methodology to eliminate waste
- Apply the following basic process improvement tools within the six sigma DMAIC improvement model: Project Charter, Process Map, Thought Process Map, Pareto Chart, Trend Chart, Fishbone Diagram, 5-Why Analysis, Histogram, SPC, FMEA, Benchmarking, Brainstorming, 5S, Correlation Analysis, Error-proofing, Cpk, Ppk, Corrective Action Matrix, and Continual Improvement Control Plans
- Design and improve process inputs to gain desired outcome
- Improve processes to reduce common cause variability and eliminate special cause
- Establish control plans to prevent process backsliding for consolidation of gains
- Perform process capability studies internally and externally
- Analyze process constraints and develop standards to overcome constraints
- Ability to effectively manage large process improvement projects using MS Project software
- Revise procedures for process improvement
- Investigate/analyze and benchmark industry practices for process validation assessments
- Implement effective corrective and preventative actions utilizing structured planning methods
- Coordinate and work cross-functionally with Team Members, Quality, Engineering, Contracts, Sales, and Manufacturing to improve processes
- Must proactively plan and execute plans in accordance with established time constraints
- Must be willing to complete additional advanced training/educational courses as required
- Accurately maintain company records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures
- Other duties, as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in quality, Business, Operations Management, or related field
- One plus years of related work experience
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic understanding of statistical techniques process improvement methods.
- Experience leading 8D and continuous improvement activities.
- Must have experience with and be able to exhibit the use of structured problem-solving techniques utilizing computer applications.
- MS Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Statistical software.
Salary : $64,500 - $103,500
