JOB SUMMARY:
The Painter A will spray paint vehicles and related components as directed for surface protection and quality appearance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sand, fill minor defects and clean surfaces of components as required.
- Layout, mask and stripe vehicles for quality appearance and two-tone application.
- Disassemble, clean, repair, adjust and reassemble painting equipment, such as pumps, paint heaters, tanks, spray guns, etc., for proper operation.
- Flush tanks, hoses and equipment prior to color changeovers.
- Mix all types of paints for proper viscosity and consistency.
- Remove and replace wheels, hoods, equipment, etc. Requires climbing under and over vehicles.
- Handle parts weighing up to 3,000 lbs., using cranes, jacks, dollies, forklift trucks, drive trucks, etc.
- Undercoat and prime vehicles as directed.
- Apply decal type vehicle markings as required.
- Touchup and repair paint and bodywork defects.
- Blend paint in defect areas and finish off with a buffer.
- Troubleshoot paint problems dealing with procedures, paint, or equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Use of simple arithmetic and some measuring instruments such as caliper or scale.
