What are the responsibilities and job description for the Healthy Living Program Coach (Oshkosh YMCA) position at OSHKOSH COMMUNITY YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSN INC?
- Coach Healthy Living programs at the Oshkosh YMCA including some, but not all:
- Women on Weights: Program that teaches women of all ages in our community the main movement patterns in well rounded resistance training programs. Six to eight weeks long per session, times vary but mainly PM/after work hours.
- LIVESTRONG: Program for cancer survivors that introduces what the YMCA can offer, includes single station strength training, group exercise, and other areas of interest, helping survivors grow strength and community. Twelve weeks long, PM commitment in Fall, late AM commitment in Spring.
- Rock Steady Boxing: Program that the Oshkosh YMCA hosts for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and Essential Tremors. Combines boxing and other exercises to help combat disease symptoms. Primarily an AM commitment, this program runs continuously.
- Teen Strength and Cardio Classes: Strong Teens and Learn to Lift, two programs that go over single station strength and cardiovascular training and teen weight room training. Three to six weeks long per session. Primarily a PM commitment.
- Teaching Kitchen Programs: Opportunity to run nutrition/food related programs in the Oshkosh YMCA’s Teaching Kitchen. Times can vary depending on availability. Program demographics range from senior to kids programming.
Average Hours Per Week: 4-8 hours/week
Schedule: Primarily PM/After work/school hours (3:30pm – 7:30pm) Monday-Thursday, with possible AM and Friday/Weekend opportunities
Education/Certification Opportunities: The Oshkosh YMCA can provide some levels of training/education specific to programs (LIVESTRONG Coach Cert., Rock Steady Boxing Assistant Coach Cert., CPR/AED and First Aid Cert.)
Qualifications:- Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification Preferred
- Health and Wellness, Exercise Science, Kinesiology Background Preferred
