Expected pay for this position is $68.82 - $78.43/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.


Overview

The APP Supervisor for the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a key leadership role responsible for operational oversight, team performance, and the ongoing development of advanced practice providers across these specialized service lines.

 

The APP Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care through strong operational management, consistent implementation of evidence-based practice, and cultivation of a highly engaged provider team. Continued leadership is essential to sustaining and advancing team performance, patient experience, safety, and quality outcomes.

  • The Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a 64-bed private-room unit with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, and a Small Baby Unit.
  • Team consists of our full-time neonatologists, nurse practitioners, residents, APP and physician fellows, nurses, respiratory therapists, and consultants from multiple specialties deliver the most advanced care to premature and high-risk infants.
  • Provide operational oversight of APPs within the NCCU service line.
  • Manage APP staffing, scheduling, and productivity including recruitment, onboarding, and orientation in alignment with departmental needs.
  • Standardization of evidence-based practice, clinical documentation, and care delivery.
  • Oversee quality indicators, identify trends, and implement improvement strategies.
  • Address safety concerns, professionalism issues, and performance challenges promptly and appropriately.
  • Conduct ongoing professional performance evaluations and support provider development plans.
  • Foster a supportive and positive work environment through routine mission partner rounding, targeted recognition efforts, and promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Collaborate closely with physician leadership, nursing leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure team alignment and service excellence.
  • Provide direct patient care while serving as a clinical role model for high-quality, patient-centered practice, with responsibilities divided into approximately 70% administrative and 30% clinical.
  • Support the integration of new clinical initiatives and quality improvements.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP), a post-master's certificate, or a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)
  • Nurse Practitioners must hold a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification from the National Certification Corporation
  • Current and valid Physician Assistant License or Advanced Practice Nurse License in the State of Illinois or eligibility for licensing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant in an NCCU is required.
