Pay range for this position is $38.71 - $50.34/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Protects, promotes and restores health and wellness by practicing at the highest level of the Registered Nurse licensure; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary care team members to provide care coordination across the continuum. Assesses and supports physical symptoms, provides psychological support to patients, friends, and families, mentors assigned team members, promotes best practices, and maintains professional disposition at all times. The RN Hospital Inpatient/ED operates in units that provide 24/7 care in the hospital.
The OB Staff Nurse is a critical frontline clinical role within the Women’s Health Service Line and the hospital’s LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit. This position provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to women and newborns across the full continuum of obstetrical and gynecologic services in a 24/7 inpatient setting.
As an LDRP unit, all OB Staff Nurses are cross-trained and competent to safely care for patients in:
- Labor & Delivery
- Postpartum
- OB Triage
- Lactation Support
- Operating Room (OB/GYN cases)
- PACU
- Level II Nursery
- GYN Surgical Care
The OB Staff Nurse practices at the highest level of Registered Nurse licensure, collaborating closely with OB/GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, anesthesia, pediatrics, and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care for mothers and newborns.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
License/Certifications: Current Registered Nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing in appropriate state (Illinois or Michigan) Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS is required prior to start date of employment.
- BLS/ACLS – required prior to start and every 2 years
- NRP – required prior to start and every 2 years
- STABLE – required prior to start and every 2 years
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring – Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced (initial and every 2 years)
Additional Education & Training Requirements
- EMPOWER – required within 6 months of hire
- AORN 12-Week Module Program – required within 6 months of hire for OR and PACU competencies
- Orientation length varies based on experience (typically 6–12 weeks, with extended timelines for cross-training if needed)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BSN
Experience: Experience as an RN in a healthcare environment
Other skills/knowledge: Electronic Medical Record and Microsoft application basic proficiency
