The hourly rate for this position is $18.50/hour This is an Hourly position.
Overview
This internship will begin in January 2026 and will end August 2026.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Innovation Intern supports initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance, logistics efficiency, and meaningful outcomes across OSF HealthCare. This role blends process improvement methodologies with data analytics to identify opportunities for optimization and measurable value creation. The Innovation Intern collaborates closely with people, processes, and technology. Some key tasks may include engagement in and facilitation of project exploration, current and future state process mapping, voice of those we serve and measurement planning, solution generation, and implementation planning, among other stimulating opportunities to grow the Innovation competency.
- Supports low to moderately complex projects aimed at improving logistics, throughput, and operational performance using performance improvement and data analytics methodologies. Collects, cleans, and analyzes operational data to identify patterns, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Applies foundational Python skills for data manipulation, automation, or visualization to support project insights
- Engages in the OSF HealthCare Mission Recognition Program. Participates in feedback exchanges with Mission Partner peers and leaders.
- Will be required to travel throughout the organization to support project objectives.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Student currently attending college or university pursuing a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or Data Science with a focus on process improvement operations or related field.
Other Skills/Knowledge:
- Interest in gaining experience in the healthcare field.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies and / or project management.
- Foundational understanding of Python (data cleaning, analysis, or simple automation).
- Practice in critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and relationship building.
- Personal skills and able to collaborate with others throughout the organization
- Manage and handle multiple tasks
- Good attention to detail
