Expected pay for this position is $31.49 - $37.05/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The grossing technician is responsible for the accuracy of pathology services requiring specialized techniques. They work independently using the medical knowledge to perform human specimen examination for diagnosis and patient treatment. They receive and process specimens from the operating rooms and clinics throughout the hospital and health care organization. They will perform routine, uncomplicated surgical dissection procedures on tissue samples. This includes core biopsies, small biopsies, bone marrows, curettings, gallbladder, appendix, fallopian tubes, placenta, etc.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
Experience:
- 2 years laboratory experience.
Licensure/ Certification:
- American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS.
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- 1 year experience performing gross dissection and dictation of surgical biopsy specimens.
Licensure/ Certification:
- Histotechnician/Histotechnologist (American Society for Clinical Pathology).
