Expected pay for this position is $27.26 - $32.06/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Behavioral Health Coordinator services patients of all ages who are admitted to the Emergency Department or the Medical Center and are experiencing acute psychiatric problems. Symptoms can include: psychiatric problems, including suicidal thoughts/actions; mood disorders, anxiety disorders, self-inflicted wounds and other disorders. Provides patient assessment, crisis intervention and stabilization, psychiatric consultation and coordination/collaboration with on-call psychiatrist(s) and/or ED physicians to assure appropriate referrals and resources, which can be done in person or via tele-health (Center for Health). Will participate in unit specific committees and provide in-house education as needed. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages and needs of the patients served.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, psychiatric nursing, social work or other behavioral health related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a behavioral health or psychiatric related field required in order to gain an understanding of behavioral health disorders and with an emphasis’s on assessment, counseling and crisis intervention.
• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external customers including professional staff, support service personnel, external office personnel, and third party payers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree in counseling, psychiatric nursing, social work or other behavioral health related field.
