The Hand Soldering Technician will be responsible for hand soldering through-hole and surface mount components on printed circuit boards (PCB’s). This position will perform rework and repairs and inspect assemblies to ensure compliance with IPC quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount (SMT/SMD) electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in accordance with work instructions, engineering drawings, and assembly specifications.
  • Inspect solder connections and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Conduct rework, touch-up, and repair of PCB assemblies as needed.
  • Properly identify, handle, and install electronic components while adhering to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures.
  • Utilize microscopes, magnifiers, tweezers, and other precision tools to perform detailed assembly and soldering tasks.
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, bills of materials (BOMs), and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and 5S practices.
  • Document and communicate quality concerns, defects, nonconformances, or process-related issues to supervisors and quality personnel.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Meet production schedules and delivery commitments while maintaining a high level of accuracy, quality, and workmanship.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. in compliance with ITAR regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD standards.
  • Experience with leaded and lead-free soldering processes and the use of microscopes and inspection equipment for precision assembly and quality verification.
  • Knowledge of solder fine-pitch, surface mount (SMT), and miniature electronic components.
  • Familiarity of electronics, soldering, and PCB assembly processes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and specifications. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Basic computer skills for monitoring machine performance and documenting production data. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical or vocational training in electronics or related fields is preferred.
  • SMT technology rework knowledge
  • Certification in SMT or electronics-related fields preferred. (IPC-A-610, J-STD) 
  • Experience with soldering irons, hot air rework, or other soldering equipment preferred. 

Work Environment:

  • Standing for long periods, lifting, and bending may be required.
  • Some shifts may involve overtime or weekend work based on production schedules.

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
