Position Highlights SUMMARY: Provides direct patient care to all patients as well as documentation of care in accordance with policies and procedures under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. Follows directions and instructions for treatment and other tasks as directed by the Registered Occupational Therapist. Provides care in an effective and competent manner. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program required. Six months to one-year related experience and/or training preferred CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS: Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the State of Iowa required. This position requires a valid driver’s license and they must carry their own automobile liability insurance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Follows ethics and standards as laid out by the American Occupational Therapy Association and Osceola Regional Health Center policy and procedure manual. Follows the practice act and standards per the IA State Board of Medical Examiners for the title of certified occupational therapist assistant. Provides treatments to patients in an efficacious and timely manner in accordance with the OT plan of care and physician’s orders. Communicate with the therapist appropriately to ensure effective treatment. Arranges, determines and attains proper equipment needed by any patients to allow for safe and effective treatment 100% of the time as observed by a supervisor and registered Occupational Therapist. Provides direct therapy services to patients using various functional settings and strategies directed by the Registered Occupational Therapist. Produces appropriate, specific, clinical documentation for patient care given and assists with scheduling and paperwork associated with patient care. Charges patients appropriately for treatments given on a daily basis under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. Assists with paperwork activities and other duties, which may include and not be limited to billing, documentation, correspondence and file management.
