We are currently seeking a Program Coordinator to join our Children, Youth, and Family Services department. The Program Coordinator will support the daily operations of the Visiting and Family Assistance Program located at the Rose M. Singer Correctional Facility. The Coordinator will support positive outcomes for individuals housed in the facility by providing access to visiting, personal development and community resources. The Coordinator will also ensure that all programmatic objectives are being met and serve as the primary point of contact for DOC leadership, participants and their families. This position requires reporting to a Department of Correction (DOC) facility at least two (2) days per week, with additional on-site attendance as needed based on operational and programmatic needs.  


This position is expected to end on June 30, 2027, with the possibility of an extension.


This position requires clearance by the New York City Department of Correction. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain Department of Correction (DOC) clearance to work on Rikers Island and/or other applicable facilities operated by the Department of Correction.   


Salary: $72,500 - $76,000/year

Requirements

  Essential Duties: 

  • Oversee administration for program operations and all aspects of service provision, including reentry services, visit coaching, family assistance, family advocacy and mentoring
  • Participate in scheduled meetings with the Director of Hour Children’s Visiting and Family Assistance Program to review, assign referrals and ensure the continuity of both programs
  • Provide supervision to program staff ensuring program standards are being upheld, quality services are being provided and provide on-going training to support staff development 
  • Represent Osborne Association as the primary point of contact for the Department of Corrections (DOC) and Mayoral Offices of Criminal Justice (MOCJ)  administration
  • Collaborate with DOC staff to plan and facilitate all family visiting options for the participants (Community Engagement Day, CMOM, CHIPP)
  • Complete intakes and assign new participants to staff
  • Shadow staff monthly to ensure  protocols are being followed and there are positive interactions with participants
  • Develop and support  in community component of the program to serve women released from RMSC and their families 
  • Attend internal staff meetings, trainings, and supervision, as well as related external meetings and trainings with resource partners 
  • Comply with all facility policy and procedures, including all security regulations and PREA requirements 
  • Manage a small caseload which may include those with more complicated individual and family needs
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with DOC staff and administrators
  • Collaborate with the Director of Children Youth and Family Services on  addressing issues, upcoming  events, program  activities, and budgetary considerations 
  • Attend required training 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Correction (DOC) clearance to work on Rikers Island and/or other applicable facilities operated by the Department of Correction.   
  • In-person attendance is required to collaborate with co-workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related field preferred; in lieu of a degree High School diploma or equivalent with at least 3-5 years of leadership/supervisory experience
  • Two years of progressive program management experience within a social service agency
  • Experience working with children and families

  • Competence in the criminal justice system
  • Knowledge of group facilitation and supporting parent-child visits or facilitating parenting classes
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, pay strong attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Ability to travel locally 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite 
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization and build strong relationships
