Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
- Plan and develop menu items that meet customer preferences and restaurant standards
- Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere to strict food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Select fresh ingredients, including seafood, vegetables, and rice, for optimal quality
- Assist in inventory management and order supplies as needed
- Collaborate with the culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences
- Uphold high standards of presentation, flavor, and authenticity in all dishes
- Train junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and food safety protocols
Skills
- Proven experience in sushi preparation and fine dining environments
- Strong knowledge of food industry standards, including food handling, safety, and sanitation practices
- Expertise in menu planning, meal preparation, and culinary techniques specific to Japanese cuisine
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in food presentation
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Experience with catering or large-scale food service is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
