Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in planning and executing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Supervise kitchen staff during food preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure consistency and excellence
- Oversee inventory control, including ordering supplies, managing stock levels, and minimizing waste
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and sanitation standards across all kitchen operations
- Lead shift management activities, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring smooth workflow
- Coordinate with the dietary department to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions
- Support catering events and banquet services by overseeing food production and presentation for large groups
- Manage food handling procedures to ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with health codes
- Assist in training new team members on culinary techniques, safety protocols, and service standards
- Collaborate with restaurant management on menu planning, cost control, and service improvements
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food production within a restaurant or catering environment; fine dining experience preferred
- Supervising experience with a track record of effective team management and leadership skills
- Strong background in banquet service, catering, and large-scale event preparation
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices; certifications such as ServSafe are advantageous
- Expertise in inventory management, food handling, and kitchen operations
- Excellent cooking skills with a comprehensive understanding of culinary techniques across various cuisines
- Experience in restaurant management or food service management roles is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments effectively
