Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Dispatcher / Operations Coordinator to join our logistics and transportation team. Essentially, the job entails you keep freight moving efficiently. In this vital role, you will coordinate the movement of freight and manage transportation operations to ensure timely, efficient delivery of goods. Your proactive communication skills and technical expertise will help streamline dispatching processes, optimize fleet utilization, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of our logistics operations, ensuring seamless coordination between carriers, warehouses, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch refrigerated freight shipments by coordinating with drivers, carriers, and warehouse teams using transportation management systems.
- Plan and optimize routes for efficiency, cost control, and on-time performance
- Monitor shipments in real time and proactively resolve delays or disruptions
- Communicate with drivers and customers to provide updates and ensure service quality
- Ensure compliance with DOT, safety, and temperature-control requirements
- Coordinate expedited, emergency, and same-day shipments within Texas
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and operational documentation
- Support day-to-day operations to uphold reliability, safety, and performance standards
- Oversee fleet management activities including maintenance coordination.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Experienced with freight operations, dispatching procedures, and fleet management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or a related field OR a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the transportation/logistics industry
- Relevant experience must include hands-on responsibility for dispatching, route planning, load coordination, real-time shipment tracking, driver management, and resolving operational/delivery issues in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in refrigerated or temperature-controlled logistics strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize under pressure
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with routing, scheduling, and tracking systems (TMS, GPS, ELD platforms)
- Working knowledge of Texas and federal DOT/regulatory compliance
