Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated, hands-on, highly skilled Purchasing Manager to assist and train under our Purchasing Director. You will learn to oversee the direct purchasing of all materials required for our production process. Expected pay range for this role is $80,000 to $120,000 a year.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Purchasing Director with purchasing critical inventory and supplies for daily operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure material is available for new projects and orders
- Provide accurate material costs for job bids
- Manage material lead times, sourcing, and price negotiations
- Book LTL shipments for material orders
Minimum Requirements
- 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelors degree in a related, or unrelated, field of study
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in ERP software
- Understanding of market dynamics, contract management, and financial principles
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Requirements
- Purchasing experience for railroad rolling stock material
- Purchasing experience for general industrial supplies
- Manufacturing experience in an engineered-to-order environment
- Knowledge of the railway industry, particularly passenger operations
- Understanding of engineering concepts and metallurgy
