General Statement of Duties:
The Radiologic Technologist Surgery takes images of various portions of the body by operating radiologic equipment according to developmental factors and age specifics under supervision and as directed by a Physician in our four operating rooms.
Essential Duties:
- Operates radiology equipment, including but not limited to: OEC C-arm, O-arm, Siemens, AMX portable, mini OEC and mini ortho scan. Operates radiology equipment with knowledge of the following; total joint placement and replacement, ORIF and arthroscopic surgeries on all extremities, spine general, and physiatry. Intra-operative and post-operative portable imaging. Assists physicians with image guided injections, under physician guidance. Passes medications needed during exams. Utilizes digital subtraction and angiography.
- Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Observes patients during procedure. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
- Performs specialized imaging procedures such as nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.
- Assists with image guided biopsies and radiofrequency ablations of tumors.
- Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Applies operating room traffic patterns and aseptic technique. Applies sterile technique principles. Complies to surgical attire.
- Assists with procedures and provide diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Assists physicians with image guided injections.
- Assists surgeon in research projects.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree required in Radiologic Technology
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) certification required
- BLS certification required
- 1-2 years of experience preferred
