** This position will work with a double board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the care of the hand, wrist and elbow at our Greenwood and Center Grove, Indiana locations.              This Private APP role is clinic-based with the possibility of assisting in the OR on Tuesdays             (see schedule below).  **

• OrthoIndy South, located in Greenwood, Indiana, provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with four operating rooms and a 15-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee joint replacement.   Other services include an urgent care, clinics, imaging and physical therapy. 
• OrthoIndy Center Grove, located in Center Grove, Indiana, provides outpatient care in our clinic setting along with imaging and physical therapy services.

Private APP Schedule:    Clinic each day, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.   Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at Greenwood clinic and Wednesdays at Center Grove clinic.

Mondays - Greenwood clinic with Physician
Tuesdays – Greenwood clinic solo while Physician is in surgery at same location (with the possibility of assisting in the OR)
Wednesdays - Center Grove clinic (morning with Physician; solo in the afternoon)
Thursdays – Greenwood clinic with Physician
Friday – Greenwood clinic solo

General Statement of Duties:

All clinical care provided by the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will be within the scope of the duties assigned by the supervising OrthoIndy Physician. The supervising Physician must be either physically present or immediately available for consultation when services are proved by the Advanced Practice Provider, including care provided using protocols, guidelines, and/or standing order. When the supervising Physician is unavailable, they may designate another Physician who has agreed to temporarily be responsible for the supervision.

Essential Duties:

1. Helps plan and implement care of doctor’s patients, including entering orders into the patient record that are verbal orders or part of standing orders or protocols approved by the supervising physician.
   
2. Orders radiologic and laboratory tests and studies as necessary to complete history and physical examinations.
   
3. Assesses patients and assesses normal and abnormal findings obtained from history and physical examination as well as radiology and ancillary studies.
   
4. Plans and implements care of patients, including; EMR documentation, ordering additional studies, communicates with supervising Physician and additional staff, and prescribing appropriate medications.
   
5. Helps to counsel individuals and families about their health related issues. Communicates individualized teaching plans to patients based on their needs.
   
6. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner required
• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification or American Association of Nurse Practitioners certification required
• Indiana Physician Assistant Committee certification or Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana certification required
• BLS required
• 1-2 years of related experience preferred
